This blog is something of an online diary. My Dad called it that last week, and I thought the name was somewhat appropriate. My husband and I are living and teaching in Daejeon, South Korea for almost 14 months. We are only a month in right now, but are already really enjoying it. Part of the reason for writing down our experience is for our families back home, and the other part is so that we can always remember what it was like being here on a day-by-day basis. Teaching abroad is something I have always wanted to do and Josh has always supported, so here we are! It’s not always easy and sometimes I get really frustrated or overwhelmed feeling, but that’s just part of teaching, isn’t it?

The city is fine, our school is great, and the kids are making our world wonderful. We can’t complain.

Hi! My name is Jim Long. I went to Seabreeze with your mom. I knew her as Susan Stansfield. I was in Panera Bread, standing in line and went, “Dang, you look familiar…” and we figured it right out. Pretty cool, and then even more cool was that you two are doing what I want to do, and in the same country!!! I got my certification in TEFL through OxfordSeminars.com and am now doing an additional module to be added called, “Teaching Business English as a Foreign Language” I have lots of experience teaching kids art in the public school system but want a change. I like your blog even though I just breezed thru for a sec.
    All the Best,
    Jim

      Jim,
If you’re seriously interested in coming, I can give you the name of some good schools here and some information that might help you out in deciding whether to go public or private. It is seriously random that you ran into my Mom after all of those years and were interested in teaching in South Korea. Best of luck!
